Testing Grounds Residency 2017

Artist Collective ‘While the Hour’ with the Council of SVOO present two days of workshops and events exploring ‘deep time’ at Testing Grounds.

What if time were multi-layered and prone to mutating?

‘While the Hour’  invites you to consider the peculiarities of the present moment through a series of workshops and events over two days, to kick off their February residency at Testing Grounds.

Take a constructive nap during a talk at the ‘Restival’. Take part in creative writing experiments in the balmy evening air for ‘Writing in Deep Time’. Immerse yourself in ambient music and durational drawing exercises for ‘Time Soup’. Or, bet on a perpetual motion artwork.

In the Testing Grounds residency, we will create a space that encourages new ways of thinking and relating to concepts of time.

It will be an experiential offering to the public: an invitation to explore our place in the universe and to consider human’s connection to the planet and its possible futures.

Together, we will make assemblages, write, nap, draw and talk. With the vision of creating subtle ripples of new thought and behaviour that arise in response to our collective experiences.

This residency project is on stolen land that was never ceded. We acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the land, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation, and their elders past and present.
